This page includes links to articles, websites, and other random bits of interesting information about women, women’s history, and some of the challenges “The Fair Sex” has encountered – and continues to encounter. I have a file of random things I want to share, so I finally got around to creating this page to do just that.

I named it “Interesting Information” for lack of something better… Let me know if you have any ideas.

The page looks a little different than the other pages on this site, but I think that’s OK because the information here is more contemporary and less academic.

I hope you find these tidbits as interesting as I do!

Buffalo Urban Legend Bingo!

My friend Cynthia VanNess, retired librarian and researcher extraordinaire, just posted “The Buffalo Urban Legend Bingo Card” to her website, buffaloresearch.com. If you’ve heard any other nuggets of “information” that just aren’t true, let her know. There may be a second Bingo board in her future!

Is a laughing woman dangerous?

When you think of your grandma or great-grandma, do you think of her as “stern” or “stoic” because you don’t remember her laughing too much? This article explains why that might have been.

Even the ladies in this Pan-Am photo weren’t smiling!

About BADASS BUFFALO BABES

Buffalo has no shortage of remarkable women. You’d never know it from the local history shelf.

After years of coming up empty at bookstores and libraries, I decided to write the stories myself. These posts celebrate the women who lived, worked, and made their mark in the Buffalo area — the highlights, the achievements, the moments worth remembering.

This isn’t a genealogy project or an academic archive. Just good stories about women who deserve to be known.
