Why did I start this blog? Every time I go to a local library or bookstore, I search the “local” section for books about Buffalo-area women’s achievements. There are NONE. So for the past few years I have been on a mission to fill that gap. These posts are the result.
What these posts are: Highlights of these women’s lives, especially the time they spent in Buffalo.
What these posts are not: Historical tomes with every detail, or genealogical family trees.
What you won’t find in this blog: The more well-known women among these historic achievers, such as Louise Bethune, and many African-American women. Why? Louise Bethune has been documented extensively by many others. The Uncrowned Community Builders project has done a beautiful job of researching and documenting men and women of color in our community. I wouldn’t even try to outdo their efforts!
